The previous article, “Solving the contradiction that customers are both users and contributors, the POP algorithm based on heads,” mentioned that the POS algorithm only solves the average value of heads. Still, the contribution of each user is different. How to measure it?
The POP algorithm is effective for fixed behaviors, such as registration, but how should the contribution of uncertainty be defined? Many projects have proposed many points to describe users’ uncertain contributions. When there are too many points, users are confused.
Mr. Zhu’s indirect reward is used to solve the problem of uncertain incentives. The method is linked to the salary system. He deduced progressively and argued that it is unreasonable for the Internet to have no indirect incentives.
Incentives for uncertain behaviors require the correct design of the incentive system
All incentive standards should be simple. Zhihu uses 5 dimensions to score the article’s author, which is very good. Binance Square and Snowball, which do not have scores, have better click effects. The article’s author is most concerned about the number of clicks, comments, likes, and reposts and does not seem to care whether they are scored. It is not easy to design the incentive system correctly.
The Internet has created two new factors: group owners and big Vs
Did group owners and big Vs exist before the Internet? No. This is because the Internet has expanded the scope of human communication. Group owners provide services, and big Vs provide knowledge.
Group owners provide services. Robot customer service is popular now, but it cannot be compared with human services at the current service level. Group owners support the chainless customer service system. The number of group members that judge their performance is related to their income.
Big Vs provide knowledge. The number of fans is used to measure big Vs. A big V may even earn more than a company. The problem with big Vs is that the content life cycle is short. If you want to maintain a long-term advantage, you can’t be a person; you must be part of a team. The team’s expenses are high, and it is difficult to maintain a profit model without wool coming out of the pig.
Mr. Zhu believes that group owners and big Vs are unorganized resources.
The direct incentive method is not fair enough
YouTube’s incentive method is fair, but the top 3% take 85% of the profit share. More than 50 million broadcasters are on the platform, and 1.5 million broadcasters make money. How many broadcasters can earn more than working? Programs have a long-tail effect, but they cannot get paid in the long-tail stage because of insufficient clicks. Small broadcasters are at a disadvantage, and big broadcasters and enterprises swallow up the value they create. We provide four levels for “small broadcasters” in the chainless system.
The direct incentive is piecework wages. Why do enterprises and institutions in real society have hourly wages and a job-level wage system? Piecework wages are equivalent to temporary workers, and job-level wages are comparable to formal workers. From this point of view, all YouTube broadcasters are temporary workers of YouTube. They cannot share the development benefits of the enterprise. Broadcasters are also direct users of YouTube. They bring indirect users to YouTube – traffic so that YouTube obtains advertising revenue, and YouTube distributes 55% of advertising revenue to broadcasters. It is the distribution principle of the industrial age, and shareholders and management teams take dividends. This distribution principle is fair until the emergence of Bitcoin.
Satoshi Nakamoto correctly used the characteristics of the Internet
Before Satoshi Nakamoto, Internet projects had control centers, and the transmission characteristics of the Internet were point-to-point, without a center. Because the Internet is just a tool for big tech companies, the development of the Internet eventually led to the emergence of giants such as YouTube, Facebook, and WeChat. The same organizational structure and distribution mechanism as in the industrial era were produced. The system designed by Satoshi Nakamoto has no corporate structure and no corporate control method. The final control method evolved into a community. This structure is in line with the characteristics of the Internet, but in Satoshi Nakamoto’s system, users have no say, and of course, there is no dividend for the project. Satoshi Nakamoto’s Bitcoin system is not a platform project. For him, the structure of the Bitcoin system is suitable. However, it is an inappropriate community structure for platform projects. How should the community of platform projects be built?
The characteristic of the cryptocurrency community is that it is linked by currency
A community must have joint support, such as a housing community, in which the members must be related to the house as the community’s bond, and the cryptocurrency community’s bond is the coin.
Community coin holders can be divided into four categories:
- Coin holders: no contribution is required.
- Promoters: Contributions are measured by points, equivalent to YouTube’s small broadcasters.
- Group owners: Contributions are measured by the number of group members.
- Big V: measured by the number of fans.
There are also core teams and checks and balances cornerstone organizations.
Use 12 levels to measure their contribution. Starting from community promoters, they will form community contributors with the core team and enjoy indirect incentives similar to job-grade wages. Please refer to Chapter 3 of the “Chainless White Paper” for how to motivate. For the size of user contributions, direct incentives and indirect incentives are used to expand the “company” mechanism to the community. The community is the highest decision-making mechanism of the project. Relying on community decision-making should be the essence left to us by the Bitcoin system. The community mechanism is more in line with human evolution.
When I first saw Mr. Zhu’s community proposal, my eyes lit up. Can the community be simplified to group owners and big Vs? Mr. Zhu regards the birth of Bitcoin on January 9, 2009, as the starting point of Internet civilization. The most prominent feature is the community, so it is more appropriate to call it community civilization. No one used it this way before Satoshi Nakamoto.
Core team
The project’s core team members were initially selected. As the community expanded, they were selected and assessed by their vote.
Conclusion
Land was the main means of production in the agricultural era, and capital was the main means of production in the industrial era. The characteristics of the Internet era determine it is not the fourth industrial revolution but the Internet revolution. Can constructing a community based on currency and introducing indirect incentives solve Kevin Kelly’s question? The chainless community is trying.
